Characters are dull and not very interesting. Except for the main character Mrs. Pargeter. She has many secrets. Slowly revealing them as the story unfolds.
I did finish the book, skimming as I went through it. It was just something to read, but not gripping at all.
The character of Mrs. Pargeter is something I really enjoy-whimsical. I like the allusions to her past and her disregard of expectations of others.
This was quite a puzzler. I’m usually pretty good and figuring out the outcome of mysteries but was delightfully surprised with the ending. Also enjoyed reading about the ways of English aristocracy as recently back as 1980.
What a fabulous ride, one that moves extremely quickly from one suspect to the next until surprising end. Robbery and two murders in a retirement rooming house what could possibly happen.
I love Mrs Pargeter! The stories are well written and very interesting. Keeps you guessing . I can’t wait to read more.
