My code name is Virgo. The stars say I’m practical, honest, stubborn as hell.Guilty as charged. Zodiac Tactical is the company that gave me a second chance. We guard, protect, rescue…eliminate the threat when nobody else can. And as a former SEAL, I’m good at those things. Good with weapons, good with missions. But with people…not so good.So when a gruesome enemy takes Bronwyn Rourke, one of Zodiac’s newest young recruits—with blue eyes that take up nearly her whole damn face—I shouldn’t take it personally. Shouldn’t allow her to consume my every thought and become my only mission. They took her because they thought she was alone. Easy prey. That no one would fight for her. They were wrong. My code name is Virgo. And I will grind my enemy to dust to bring her home.•••USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestselling author Janie Crouch brings you that story you’ve been looking for to escape everyday reality—romantic suspense that will leave you breathless. She needs a hero. He’ll have to remember how to be one. Dive in today!
I love suspense. It is not secret, and when I discovered Janie Crouch I went deep into the rabbit hole. This series is a spin-off of her Linear Tactical series, and it is a well-done spin-off. This story follows along the same similar timelines to book one, you don’t have to read book 1, but there are some nuances that you will miss if you don’t. Sarge met Bronwyn when she was still a teenager and helps her out of one bad situation. However, she is still stuck where she is. They don’t meet again for years, and he gets her out fully. These two feel attraction to each other, but situations don’t allow for anything to happen. Sarge is a gruff guy, who is extremely protective. Bronwyn is a woman who was dealt a bad hand and is struggling to survive. When she becomes a member of Zodiac Tactical, things are looking up. Until Mosaic kidnaps her and life spirals out of control. This book is non-stop, there is always movement, always action, and always something exciting happening on page. I love the relationship between these two and the way it develops from nothing to everything. The way in which Sarge protects not only Bronwyn’s’ heart but her body as well. My only issue with this book, when they are at the Resting Warrior Ranch, the storyline there doesn’t line up in the way the storyline plays out in that book. But honestly, that is a personal Gripe and the only reason I am giving this a 4-star rating. I really enjoy the dynamic between all of the characters in this book, and while there are a bunch, the pages do not seem over crowded. Crouch seamlessly continues to connect her series with the way these stories play out. I can’t wait to dive into more.
It was wonderful to get Sage and Bronwyn’s story. We had small glimpses of them throughout Aries’ book but it was time to focus on them. I will admit that I had to read this book over a period of days in small spurts because it was so intense and doin it all at once was really emotionally heavy. This team showed how love over time, age, and space can grow to something that may not have been there at the start. The age gap between these two to a certain extent was needed in order for their story to work. I loom forward to reading about Landon.
Janie Crouch is always a good read, but torture, rape and violence toward women are anxiety inducing, no matter how sensitively it is written! The torture, cruelty and abuse is described! Janie Crouch is an outstanding author and the plotline is compelling and frenzied! Readers with triggers need to be aware of the content of this book! Wine and soothing music can help! Hell, those always help everything!
The torture Bronwyn went thru was savage and brutal. Virgo never gave up on her. A true Hero. Great resolutions by the end. Long journey, but I was a bit frustrated because it seemed the age difference between them kept getting bigger. It was interesting to see certain parts that happened the same time as events in other books. Great story.
What an intriguing story. Virgo first met Bronwyn when she was a teenager. They meet again two years later and he helps her get her foot in the door of Zodiac. For the leaders of Zodiac the rise of Mosiac was very personal. Bronwyn was kidnapped and brainwashed much to Virgo’s dismay. He tried to find her and save her. They finally found her but she was very traumatized. Virgo does everything he can to bring her life back to her. She finally remembers who was part of Mosiac. Once he is finally taken care of, these two start working on their happily ever after! FANTASTIC job Janie! I would recommend this book.
Had the suspense and love story all rolled into one. Was good to see Sarge get his own book as he was featured in Ian and Wavy’s book which was 1st of the series. I look forward to the next books in the series.
