Being unceremoniously discharged from 10th Special Forces due to internal politics, five members of Team Trojan needed to find a use for their specialized skills. They were fighting men, trained to protect, guard, extract and rescue. Sitting around being bitter about it only made things worse but what the hell was out there for them? An invitation to join the Colorado division of Brotherhood Protectors gave them an unexpected opportunity to show the world what they could continue to do.For Bodie Jackson, leader of Team Trojan, who only knew a life of service in the military, the invitation was a lifeline. As he listened to the founder of Brotherhood Protectors, former SEAL Hank Patterson, he realized the military may have done him a favor. He now had a place where he could still use his knowledge and skills to serve others and keep his team intact. The one thing he didn’t have, and at the moment wasn’t worried about, was a woman in his life. Then a photographer with deep blue eyes and honey brown hair blew into his life.Sophie Hart came to Fool’s Gold, Colorado, hoping to distance herself from a bad relationship that had turned into a nightmare that almost destroyed her. Accepting her close friend’s invitation to do the photography for her wedding was exactly the change she needed. Lots of girl time and lots of fun. That is until she photographed a killing in a ghost town. And met Bodie. All her good intentions to avoid men flew out the window when the tall, hunky, sexy guy became her defender, along with Team Trojan.Try as they might, they couldn’t fight the blaze of attraction consuming them. But first they had to find the killers who were searching for Sophie.
They kept repeating the same thing over and over. “will the killer find me?” “I’ll do Everything I can to protect you” “will you keep me safe?” “That’s what we’re here for”. Ever other page is the same conversation. Plus he holds her hands like a child Everytime he speaks to her. And the horrible trauma that made her distrust all men for the last 2 years? Her boyfriend cheated on her and stole her money. Kinda expected something worse. Then without any prompting, she just blurts out “something’s cooking between us and we should talk in case we have s**” really? I couldn’t even finish it. Stoped halfway through.
This story had a good premise and great characters but a lot of it was very repetitive…conversations, details, descriptions, scenarios, clues, questions, theories, fears etc., were repeated by more than one characters, if not all of them over and over and over yeah, it became very tedious at one point. And I get that Sophie was the only “witness” but she also managed to get photos and turned them in to the proper authorities, yet the criminals wanted to stick around town to eliminate her. To a certain degree, I get it. District Attorneys prefer to have witnesses to corroborate evidence, but these nimcompoops were asking questions all over town when they should have been trying to “get the heck out of Dodge.” It was definitely an interesting story concept, just ended anti climatically. Guess I should be glad that for once, a security group/protection agency actually “protected” the heroine from danger because we all know how most of these stories go–the villain somehow manages to get to the protectee and kidnaps her and then she’s rescued. That definitely didn’t happen with story.
This book is so predictable. Worst book I have read this year. Team Trojan….really??? This book was awful. I wouldn’t recommend anyone read this.
So many different things happen to this couple, seems like they’ll never catch a break. So glad they finally get their happy ending.

This is a set of books my sister would have loved to read. She read everything but she especially loved a little drama, a little comedy, a little mystery. But I lost her 2 years ago this Christmas (2021). So I’ll read them for her.
