Falling Embers By Catherine Cowles
Book/Novel Author: Catherine Cowles
Book/Novel Title: Falling Embers
I loved Calder Cruz from the moment he taught me to fly. He might’ve been my brother’s best friend but he was my everything. The only one who understood me. My safest place. My person.Until one night changed it all and we became strangers in a single breath. Now, years later, I see him every day at the fire station. I watch him raise adorable twin girls as a single dad. But he has no idea how hard it was to see him move on without me.How much I still burn for him.A twist of fate changes everything. When my life is on the line, it’s Calder who saves me–who comes charging back into my heart with a vengeance. And makes it clear he’s determined to stay. But as long-buried embers light anew, there are those who lurk in the shadows. And they’ll do whatever it takes to extinguish that flame for good…
Calder and Hadley’s story was amazing. I loved the way they were together even when they weren’t. Again, the story grabs hold and doesn’t let go until the end. As always….Enjoy!!!
Hadley and calder’s story was amazing. It had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who the stalker was. Intense at times, others tugged on the heart-strings. Definitely recommend it.
I related to Hadley so much in this story. Her relationship with her mom and her need to fly free. I would have liked to see the resolution between them go a little deeper though. The twists in this were unexpected. It did tie in the event with the truck in the last book. I loved Calder and his girls. My only gripe from this book was the whole point of Ethan the con man. It just wasn’t needed.Still a good book. I’m very much looking forward to Addie’s book.
Sweet, sexy, emotional and great characters. Love this small town series. Calder and Hadley brought me to tears. Next up Beckett and Addie. Can’t wait.
” ‘ . * , ‘ .”I love everything Catherine writes, but Falling Embers just gracefully slid into first place.• Friends to lovers (one of my favs)• Brother’s best friend / Best friend’s sister• Family drama• Suspense (Catherine layers suspense like no other)Calder and Hadley have undeniable chemistry. And though their friendship had a falling out years back, they were truly never apart. They drifted in some ways, but never completely.I felt so deeply for Hadley. The dynamic with her mother bled off the pages. I wanted to hug her. Stand up for her. Scream with and for her. Hadley’s need to feel—something, anything—stems from a place I empathize with. The overall premise with Hadley’s online account—from beginning to end—God, that hit hard. The reality of social platforms and how they react. Those moments hit differently.
