Hand Jive By Jerry Boyd
Book/Novel Author: Jerry Boyd
Book/Novel Title: Hand Jive
Andre runs into trouble, riding with Rachel, while he’s on leave. By the time he’s back on duty, Rachel has decided to join up with BSR. Her first job is a doozy, though. She has to keep the twins out of trouble. Slavers show up again, with hopes of getting the company out of the way. After the fleet explains the error in their ways, they head out to check on a new planet. A stowaway causes trouble for Topper, but it turns out for the best.
While I will be one of the first to acknowledge that not every book can be exciting this one seemed to be a huge collection on words about basically nothing. I am more than a little concerned by BSR’s involvement in Earth’s firefighting problems where do they draw the line? It was almost as if you had nothing to say but took s long time to do it. Not one of my favorite books!
I have been a great fan of Bob’s since reading the first book. Now I wait impatiently for each new one to come out. I have read and reread most of the books at least 3 times. I’ve read SF all my life, starting with Asimov and Heinlein and now Boyd. I cannot recommend the series highly enough. This particular book is not the strongest part of the story — but still a good read. BSR rolls on; I’d love to work for them!
Well another few hours of a fun story to read. Please keep the series going so we can all find out how the twins and the new adopted kid save the day when Bob needs their help the most.
Great story line and fun characters. I can’t wait for the next book. Thanks for all your hard work and imagination.
The last few books were difficult to keep one engaged. A lot of unnecessary verbiage, reiteration and fluff. This is usually the case, I find when trying to drag out a series, whether dealing with books or episodic TV.
Jerry Boyd knows how to write a story that’ll reach out, grab you by the scruff of the neck, and not let go till you’ve finished reading. I enjoy this series and look forward to the next book.
