Fun and funny story of a straight-laced trust fund baby and his hired protection as they navigate South American poverty and a dangerous drug cartel to bring medical resources to the less fortunate of Venezuela..Riggs and Carter are so different from each other but equally likeable and interesting in this well-written story filled with wit, snark, humor, scorching heat, sweet romance and life-threatening danger.Looking forward to reading more from this hilarious series.Recommend.
It always gets insane when you become immersed in the goings on with the people of the Thicket from Tennessee.Fixes what ails you, at work, at home, commuting, its immersion therapy at its best.Twists and turns kept me surprised, wanting the characters to show or tell me more, I just want to go there and absorb the craziness, love, romance of it all.turns my day around, makes me smile, leaves me wanting another story
I was so happy to learn I could return to Licking Thicket and this book did not disappoint. The way the main characters’ growing feelings for each other were portrayed while dealing with the language barrier, danger, and absurdity was delicious perfection. Riggs is a former Marine who now works security and after an unintentional client disclosure he’s punished with personal bodyguard duty for a rich doctor.Carter is a cardiologist who recently moving to Licking Thicket but decides to take another stint serving in South America. His grandfather insists on sending him with a bodyguard for the trip. The chemistry between Riggs and Carter is instantaneous and combustible but both of them resist, at least for a little while. This was a swoony, fun, tiny bit of danger, absurd, sweet, steamy, heart warming story with very little angst. I am excited to read about the next Horn of Glory couple.
All the puns are ridiculously funny. The story is great, but all the double entendres just made everything better. I would feel sorry for Carter at times, but he kinda walked into having Riggs as a bodyguard.
Like Usual, even though the book is not that long, there’s good character development, the writing is spectacular with the perfect amount of humor, drama and romance. I just can’t get enough! Everything just makes me love this (sometimes crazy) characters and wish they were real and somewhere living their wonderful and happy lives. And of course, like always with this authors’ books, once I started reading I couldn’t put the book down!I waited until I had a weekend off to finish reading all the books I haven’t read yet (I’ve been getting into this habit lately because I can’t fully enjoy the books I’m reading when I have to stop in a good part, because I have to go to sleep since I have work the next day, or because my lunch time is over and I have to get back to work, and just no, I can’t anymore. I get exasperated just thinking about it) so I started reading this book early afternoon on Saturday to pull an all-nighter and finish it. Only for my old and sleeping averse body to stopped me from finishing it. But thankfully woke up at 0400, continued reading, loved it, enjoyed it, finished it, and can’t wait for the next one!I am sorry for the rambling but, oh my god Kev and Hux’ story too! I don’t know when it’s coming up but, I’m so excited to know how their rivalry turns out and how they finally admit their feelings for each other. Lol this review is all over the place but I’m just too happy and maybe a little sleep deprived, and this book just made my week. All I can honestly say is that I totally recommend it, and I’m incredibly glad I preordered the book. Already preordered the next one and can’t wait for January to be here!
The authors found a way to mix humor in with serious aspects of this story in the best way! I laughed out loud more than once! I loved Riggs and Carter! I can’t wait to see where this series goes!
