I live in a world where secrecy reigns. A Society rooted in power, wealth, and long-held dynasties. Where men are Kings, and women are pawns. For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamt of escaping the shackles of my expectations. But it can only ever be a dream. I made a fatal mistake, and those shackles became a cage. Now I’m trapped in a war with a man who controls my every move. He’s my brother’s best friend. My enemy, my tormentor, and my solace. His words have the power to wound me. His touch just might break me. But this is his kingdom, and as long as I’m here I only have one choice. I’ll play by his rules.Note from the authors: The Rite Trilogy is set in the world of The Society. It is the story of Mercedes De La Rosa and Judge Montgomery. The trilogy can be read on its own.If you’re new to The Society and would like to read the first series of books in the world, you can start with Requiem of the Soul.
I’ve experienced several disappointments recently but this has been the biggest. I love both of these writers. Read many of their books. There have been a few misses but many hits. Zavarelli-positive reviews for The Society Trilogy, Stealing Cinderella, big hit Confess, Echo, Beast, and one of my favorite all time series the Boston Underworld, amazing stories. Natasha Knight-positive reviews for To Have and to Hold series, loved Dominic, Unholy Union Duet, Collateral Damage duet, and one of my all time favorites Dishonorable. This book was a struggle. This was not due to the story but the characters. I love a hot alpha mafia man-Dante Santiago, Nino Falcone,Matteo DeLuca-but Judge was not a desirable character. I disliked Mercedes more. I refuse to continue a book where I dislike the characters. It’s possible for me to finish a stand-alone but never a trilogy. These writers have written several great dark books but this is not one. DNF.
This first book in a trilogy was absolutely flawless! I truly was worried I wouldn’t like Mercedes after reading the first Society trilogy but Knight & Zavarelli changed my mind and I became a Mercedes and Judge fan!
I really liked this book I am getting ready to start the next one your books keep me on the edge of my seat
His Rule: ★ ★ ★ . 5A. Zavarelli (The Rite Trilogy #1)”Don’t worry, little monster. I’m going to take care of you.”When headstrong, independent, and volatile Mercedes de la Rose is thrown into Lawson–Judge–Montgomery’s arms to reform herself for the better, their relationship is continually tested as they straddle the line between lust and restriction. The long-awaited second trilogy of Judge & Mercedes’ story is here! When I read the Society trilogy what feels like a lifetime ago, I remember being so intrigued by Judge because I wanted to know more about him and his relationship with Mercedes. Judge did not disappoint. Also, this cover is so unnecessarily hot and even though I normally hate people on the cover, I absolutely love this one!Mercedes is probably the most fiery woman I have ever read. She’s incredibly headstrong and will always fight back because it is just in her blood to do so. My heart really broke for her because she lives within the confines of a world that allows her no freedom, no independence, no power. But, Mercedes is the kind of woman who is always meant to rule and never to succumb. I loved seeing her softer sides when she was with Judge (especially that last scene when she’s asleep in his room!) because she is not the kind of woman who brings her walls down easily.I thought Santiago was a massive jerk, but Judge is ten times worse. There were definitely times where I thought he went too far or he did something questionable, but I try to remember that this is a very different world, and this is a very dark romance. He is probably one of the most possessive person I have ever read and the way he wants Mercedes is honestly everything because he is barely holding onto those ropes of control. If I had to describe their relationship in one word, it would be: whiplash. They go back and forth between hating each other, getting along, lusting after one another, and it’s a really complicated–sometimes confusing–relationship because of their power dynamic. It’s so clear that they both want each other more than their next breath but there’s a million things stopping them.In terms of plot, we are left with a lot of unanswered questions at the end of it about both Mercedes & Judge’s past, but since this series is in a parallel timeline with the other books, you kind of know what’s going on. I just wished for more of an independent plot for their story and they had something building up more. The cliffhanger made my heart clench! I can’t wait to dive into the next book and see what happens. I am confident Judge is going to absolutely blow a gasket.*ARC kindly provided by author for an honest review.
Y’all this book was thrilling af!! I’m not ganna lie, I was a little skeptical when I started this book. But boy was it exactly what I needed! There are some triggers in this book, so please make sure you check into that. This book may not be for everyone and that is okay. Better safe than sorry! Now I was dumbstruck as I kept reading. I didn’t realize what I was reading till half way there because I was just so invested that I didn’t know this series followed another. I mean, you don’t have to but it does put the world this book is about into perspective. I was lost for a second but that is my fault. I am ganna go back and read the other series because from what I gathered, it was just as good as this one. I fell in love with Judge. Why? Because he is Judge!! The way this man it written…it’s like my fantasy man in a book! lol That is exactly what it is!! Mercedes is strong! She doesn’t give up and is a force to be reckoned with. Judge and Mercedes have a hold on eachother that just can’t be ignored. The spice is like ice cream melting in your mouth! It’s so good and drool worthy! The ending does end on a cliffy that just is not okay. But it certainly does make you add the next release to your calendar so you don’t miss it. I was a bit sad because it ended in a position that just was like “WTF….OH SHIIIIIITTTTTTE”!!! Yup that was my reaction! His Rule is part of a trilogy and the next book is Her Rebellion! They are both out and waiting for you to enjoy them! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did! Happy Reading! Christian O. STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️SPICE
If you have not read The Society Trilogy than go no further. To really understand Mercedes and Judge’s relationship, you have to go back to the beginning. Those stories followed Mercedes’ brother’s story and set the framework for what was to come. And oh, how my feelings have changed…Mercedes was not the heroine, far from it. In fact, she caused so much grief that I wasn’t sure how I would feel about her here but, wow, so much came to light. Nothing was every black and white and it certainly wasn’t for her. The layers were laid bare, one by one, and the woman who she really was, who she admitted to almost no one, was no longer hiding. Judge, by the very nature of this role, was the bad guy but even his domineering ways were tested and pushed to the limit. He was all business but there was something about her that pushed every wall he had. And together, they were fire…Fierce, dark, passionate. Full of all the emotions, this first in a series of three, was intense. I devoured every page, fascinated by the characters and the twists their relationship took. Full of enemies and revelations, this was the story I’d wished for…It is not over and I can hardly catch a breath before carrying on…*Reviewed for 1-Click Addict Support Group
