“If the Shoe Fits encompasses everything I love about rom-coms. I laughed, I swooned, I smiled. Another hit for Julie Murphy!” —Colleen Hoover, #1 New York Times best-selling author of HopelessIf the shoe doesn’t fit, maybe it’s time to design your own.Cindy loves shoes. A well-placed bow or a chic stacked heel is her form of self-expression. As a fashion-obsessed plus-size woman, she can never find designer clothes that work on her body, but a special pair of shoes always fits just right. With a shiny new design degree but no job in sight, Cindy moves back in with her stepmother, Erica Tremaine, the executive producer of the world’s biggest dating reality show. When a contestant on Before Midnight bows out at the last minute, Cindy is thrust into the spotlight. Showcasing her killer shoe collection on network TV seems like a great way to jump-start her career. And, while she’s at it, why not go on a few lavish dates with an eligible suitor? But being the first and only fat contestant on Before Midnight turns her into a viral sensation—and a body-positivity icon—overnight. Even harder to believe? She can actually see herself falling for this Prince Charming. To make it to the end, despite the fans, the haters, and a house full of fellow contestants she’s not sure she can trust, Cindy will have to take a leap of faith and hope her heels— and her heart—don’t break in the process.Best-selling author Julie Murphy’s reimagining of a beloved fairy tale is an enchanting story of self-love and believing in the happy ending each and every one of us deserves.

I was looking for an uplifting read. The story is positive, fun and enjoyable.A definiteneeded refresh of the Cinderella story with a modern twist.
I really enjoyed this unique take on the Cinderella tale, featuring our plus size heroine, Cindy, recently graduated from Parsons in NYC for design. Her mother died when Cindy was young, and her father died shortly after remarrying Erika, a TV producer with two daughters. As opposed to the Cinderella tale, her stepmom and stepsisters are kind to her, and include her in appearing in a Bachelor type reality show. There are some funny moments, as well as serious moments, as Cindy tries to regain her momentum as a shoe designer, while managing the rest of her life.I recommend this fun take on an old story, and thank NetGalley for the ARC.
I didn’t realize this was a Julie Murphy book until I had finished it. I really like her writing and thought this book was well written and hilarious in parts. Makes sense that it was an author whose works I had read before. If you are a fan of the tv show The Bachelor or The Bachelorette a little of the book might ring a bell or two with you. Admittedly roses have been changed for something else, cocktail parties have become other events but like the tv show there are changes and surprises and drama along the way. If you ever felt that The Bachelor and Bachelorette were slightly rigged to keep certain contestants longer because they cause drama and were good for ratings, then you were not wrong. This book gently reveals the fact. I loved our heroine and all I can say is “Hurrah for the chubby girl”. I am so glad that Cindy was a sweetheart and laughed at herself and accepted herself so the comments and remarks that could have hurt her deeply mostly rolled off her, like water off a duck’s back. This was a fabulous retelling of Cinderella with a modern day twist and a very nice stepmother and stepsisters. So all in all this was a great and fun read and couldn’t be given less than 5 stars. If you love romance, fairy tales, are a dreamer, enjoy reality dating shows and a well written rom-com then this is a must read for you.
If the Shoe Fits is a modern day Cinderella retelling with a plus-sized heroine Cindy, who just graduated from fashion school and needs help figuring out what next. When a vacancy opens on her stepmother’s reality dating show, Before Midnight, happens at the last second, Cindy jumps at the chance for some exposure in the hopes of working in the fashion industry. But she gets more than what she bargained for when she actually begins to fall for the show’s suitor, Henry.I ended up loving this book so much and I honestly didn’t expect to. I can’t help but compare it to the book One to Watch which was so disappointing, and I feel like this book gave me everything I ever wanted from that one that I didn’t get. I loved Cindy as a plus sized heroine, I loved the family dynamics between her and her stepmother/siblings and how they were a loving, supportive family instead of the typical evil family. I’m not a huge fan of shows like The Bachelor, but for this book the fake show Before Midnight worked really well. Loved all of it. I wish Julie Murphy would write more adult romance!
It definitely a quick read and a page turner! I loved the modest passion that Cindy and Henry have for each other. Not to mention, it would be very refreshing to see a plus size gal rocking some more tv shows and movies! What a great read! And a new favorite author!
