Jack Reacher By Lee Child
Book/Novel Author: Lee Child
Book/Novel Title: Jack Reacher
The #1 New York Times–bestselling author reveals the story behind “one of this century’s most original, tantalizing pop-fiction heroes” (The Washington Post). In this short piece, the creator of Jack Reacher shares the origins of the ex-military cop who now makes use of his skills in the civilian world—a place where he never feels quite at home. In addition, Lee Child reflects on writing and his own life story: the importance of character; making the transition from a television career to a literary career; how his famous character was almost named Franklin—and how he wound up being called Reacher instead. “Jack Reacher is today’s James Bond, a thriller hero we can’t get enough of. I read every one as soon as it appears.” —Ken Follett, international-bestselling author of The Pillars of the Earth“Every Reacher novel delivers a jolt to the nervous system.” —Kirkus Reviews
I bought this expecting some type of Jack reacher short story. Instead, total rip off, just Lee Child (who I love!) Talking about the origins ofthe thinking that went to create the Jack reacher character.
Jack always tries to help. It doesn’t mean he cares but runs into odd circumstances. The profile fits him very well. He is a mysterious character.
Alright, I am a Reacher addict. Mostly because he is the best combination of pure mental discipline, pure physical mastery and pure simplicity. As the parent of an autistic adult, I appreciate the understanding of life in simple terms. When my son broke his arm, his term for his cast was stone bandage. Teacher would like that.
Lee Child tells us a little about himself and a lot about the development of his Jack Reacher character. I love reading Lee Child’s books and I hope he will continue to write many more Jack Reacher thrillers.
I rated this book four stars because Lee Child touched on all the reasons I enjoy the Reacher series and evoked memories of having read his stories before I knew them to be a series.
Turns out you really do. Reacher is who he is because Lee Child wanted him to be. Simple enough to understand but great reasons why.
