Dr. Ivy Collins, founder and CEO of Hedera, Inc., is ready to begin clinical trials of her company’s cutting-edge prosthetic. Her work has been heralded by government, medical, and advocacy groups and everyone hopes the device will be a success. Well, almost everyone. Someone is trying to sabotage Hedera and the launch, but to what purpose–and how far will they go to get what they want? Meanwhile, U.S. Secret Service Agent Gil Dixon can’t believe he’s finally been reunited with Ivy, his childhood best friend. Now that he’s found her again, Gil intends to spend the rest of his life with her. But it will take all his skill to uncover the truth in time to save Ivy’s life’s work, her own life, and the innocent lives caught in the crossfire.Perfectly balancing chilling suspense and uplifting romance, award-winning author Lynn H. Blackburn delivers a story of revenge, greed, and overcoming that you won’t want to put down no matter how late it gets.
Malicious Intent is a just as good, if not better than the first book in this series! Suspense, romance, high tech, and secret service agents are all components woven into this can’t put down book.Dr. Ivy Collins has someone trying to get into the computers of her company and secret service agent Gil Dixon is there to help solve the case. They have history together and their characters are well developed. If you like clean, fast-paced, suspenseful stories, this book is definitely one you need to read! Can’t wait for the next story in this series!I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. The thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.
The second book in the series and I loved it. Gil Dixon works for the Secret Service, he discovers his childhood best friend is back in town when he shows up at her house unexpectedly while working a case. Ivy Collins is an engineer and the CEO of her own company. They join forces when Ivy’s life is put on the line. This story opens with action and does not stop until the end. My favorite part is the protection details for Ivy with everyone surrounding her just like the Secret Service would the President. It’s full of action, intrigue, suspense, romance, and inspiration. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
I enjoyed reading this book. I like most of Lynn Blackburns books. This was a nice view of what friendships mean; taking care of each other, being there when needed, and not expecting anything in return. It also shows what greed and revenge can do to a person. I like more suspense than romance, but this was a good read. I would recommend this book to anyone.
3 stars for a romantic suspense mystery /thriller. This book opens with Secret Service agent Gil Dixon and his partner, Zane Thacker, going to Dr. Ivy Collins house to question her about $200 of counterfeit bills her company deposited into her company’s bank account. They interrupt people torturing Ivy. While this may seem like a Hallmark movie with a dashing knigth rescuing a damsel in distress, Ivy actually saves Gil’s life by shooting 1 of the villains who was about to kill Gil.This theme of a strong woman and a strong man continues throughout the book. Gil and Ivy have history. They were teenagers in love, but her mother moved away and Ivy never contacted Gil again. Now it is 15 years later. There is far too much romantic angst for my taste, sometimes 1/2 a chapter, for the 1st 2/3rds of the book. Each of them worries that past history and bitterness will prevent them from rekindling their love. However, that part of the ending is telegraphed from the beginning. Gil does solve the mystery of who is behind the attack on Ivy.I usually read mysteries and thrillers. I requested this from LibraryThing because it looked like an interesting thriller, not realizing that romance would be one of 2 dominant themes throughout the book. However, if you like romantic suspense, then you will probably like this book. There are reviews praising it for the right blend of romance and thrills. One quote: p.243-Gil thinking: “Who could understand woman? He had no clue what was going on with her. She wasn’t sending him mixed signals. No, that would be too easy. Normal women sent mixed signals.Ivy was sending him signals in encrypted code.”This would be ok for many readers–no profanity, no sex, and only a small amount of violence at the beginning. But it was not my cup of tea, and I won’t be reading any more books by this author. It was a fast moving book. I read it in 3 days. Thanks to the author and Revell Books for sending this ARC through LibraryThing.
Another fantastic book from author Lynn H. Blackburn. The book sucked me in immediately and didn’t let go until the end. There wasn’t one good place to stop reading this book! A true page-turner that has me eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.
In this latest release, Malicious Intent is an example of romantic suspense at its best! I loved this latest release and second book in the Defend and Protect Series. I can’t wait for the next book to be available. Ms. Blackburn does a superb job writing romantic suspense. I love how she is able to seamlessly progress through events in the book and keep me engaged throughout the storyline. She is able to include a romantic story as well as suspenseful. As with her other releases, I did not want to put this book down once I started it. This book has reoccurring characters from her previous book that readers will be able to learn more of their stories throughout. This book could be read as a stand-alone though. This book focuses on Agent Gil Dixon and his childhood friend Dr. Ivy Collins. The book starts out with a huge event and just continues unfolding as you read. I highly recommend this book and know you will not be disappointed!***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, this is my own opinion.
