There was nothing wrong with this story, there just wasn’t any real connection for me but I hate the breakup because of no talking trope.
I really enjoyed this story. It is well written with a unique and interesting storyline. The small town setting with supportive friends just make s it better. The personalities, thoughts and emotions of the characters are clearly depicted. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a complicated love story.
This is a fun story to read. Kendrick is a grumpy football player, living in a modest apartment. Lillian lives in the family home she inherited, and rented the apartment Kendrick lives in. Family drama mixed with a kind heart and a bit of a lie takes Lillian and Kendrick’s story to the next level. I love the twist and turns of the story that keeps you on the edge of the seat. Lillian is renting the efficiency behind her house out to Kendrick. He is a professional football player who grew up without a lot and parents who were battening addiction so he lives very frugally. Lillian lost her family in a tragic accident and was hoping to find a friend in her renter. Unfortunately Kendrick avoids interacting with her so she decides not to renew his lease. While she’s telling him a social worker shows up with a baby saying Kendrick’s sister has waived her parental rights and has named him as the baby’s guardian. The social worker doesn’t think the efficiency is a proper place for the baby. Despite her original plans Lillian jumps in and tells the social worker that Kendrick lives in the main house and that they are engaged. As a kindergarten teacher who has seen children treated poorly, she can’t stand by doing nothing when a child needs help. Now these two need to figure out not only how to take care of the baby but how to communicate with each other. Both have emotional baggage that cause them to act and/or react in ways that cause hurt, anger or mistrust. You definitely feel for the pain Kendrick Is carrying around and the losses both have endure. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Their journey is enthralling and enchanted with love, romance, and feelings that they never knew existed. The characters are strong, realistic, captivating, witty, and more.
