Poor Janet and her fifty shades of beige. At least her inner voice, the sensational Lady Miss Jacqueline, is coming out in an outrageously funny short story about magic, courage, and—oh honey—the wigs!Janet Williams is practically invisible. If only she had the pluck to speak up at work, flirt with the handsome barista she sees every day, and realize how special she is. When a magical wig offers Janet a chance to shake things up, will she dare to try a bold new style? The voice in her head—flashy and fierce, with an unbridled southern drawl—tells her to go for it. And once she does, there’s no turning back. My Dear Friend Janet by Keke Palmer with Jasmine Guillory is part of Southern Belle Insults, a fiercely funny series of short stories set in the fully realized world of Keke’s viral phenomenon. Take Lady Miss Jacqueline’s advice: read or listen to them at once, without stopping, the whole way through. You’re welcome.
It’s really good and entertaining. I need more from keke. She’s extremely talented. I can’t wait for more from her.
The audio book is very entertaining with the various voices. The voices bring life to the pages. Keke Palmer is great!
This was spot on for me because sometimes all that is needed is a new look, whether its a hair do, a new pair of glasses or shoes to boost the confidence levels of our inner being.
I thoroughly enjoyed this short story with a continuation attached! The story kept my attention from beginning to end! Keke was the star of the show! I loved it!
Great writing. Great narration. Love the life and energy that Keke brings. She was wonderful in multi-character voice. It grabbed my attention right from the beginning. Janet is the woman so many of us have been at some point, before finding that cozy spot. The place where our voice is easy listening, even enjoyable, to our own ears. Makes such a difference in confidence. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
This is really one of five short stories about Janet, a repressed and shy young woman, told from the point of view of a very confident and amusing narrator. The writing is breezy and imaginative and lots of fun. The best part about these stories is the narrator’s voice. She thinks the world of herself and lets you know it! A quick, light read. I enjoyed it.
