Book 6 has all the angst, and maybe more, of the previous books. It also has the same humor, romance, a little danger, stubbornness, sass, and intrigue. And a surprise ending. I truly love Grandma Edie. What a wonderful woman for her time. Highly recommend.
I like this series as it revolves around family and friends, and each book has the depth of story that comes from each previous book. Book 5’s revelations and connection to this story lead to my eagerness to learn more about Troy’s story. I was pleasantly surprised that the obstacles were not as great as the last book seemed to suggest. This book did have a bit of angst and back and forth but ultimately leads to a satisfying ending. I am maybe more eager than ever before to read the next about Sara, a family friend, who needs rescue from an unpleasant marriage. Of course each of the books get a helping hand with happily ever after from the lovable, wise, and entertaining Grandma Edie’s interference.
Great read, I loved the characters and plot of this book. I’ll definitely check out the other books in this series.Sherrie V
I admit, I have enjoyed reading several of Bree Wolf’s books. But this one fell massively short of the mark.Almost the entire book, up to about the 80% mark, was entirely manufactured misunderstandings, break-offs in mid-sentence, storm offs, and overall refusal to communicate. I was extremely frustrated wondering what was going to change, how anything would be accomplished for either character with their own families, and where this plot was going. There was essentially no action driving the storyline besides this over-wrought woe.I definitely started to dislike Nora. Multiple times she seemed to be playing games with Troy regarding marrying or not marrying Mr. Clarke. She constantly swiveled between “I can’t marry Mr. Clarke, he repulses me” to “I think I’ll marry Mr. Clarke, he already has an heir.”And Nora’s mother. She had a very interestingly strange marriage story. As then did we learn Troy’s parents had. It was too coincidental and much to be plausible. Not to mention all 4 of his sisters got married within one calendar year. The two biggest points of the book are the end when the mishap occurs and one of Grandma Edie’s secrets is revealed. It really seemed like this was a book just to be written and there wasn’t much there, simply to wrap up the final siblings’ story.But. Grandma Edie needs a book!
I love the picture that the hero Troy Beaumont paints of a man’s burning and loyal love for a woman in this book. Though it is the portrayal of a man writing from a woman’s stance at times, he mulls over his love for Lady Nora at many opportunities. This romance novel threw me for a loop because typically, Bree Wolf rights charming and clean romances. While Once Upon An Accidently Bewitching Kiss is definitely still a clean romance novel, there were steamier kissing scenes than they usually are in her works. But this book contained a pivotal moment in the Whickerton’s in Love series. It truly jerked tears from my eyes and pulled out all the stops to show not only the overall love story between the two main characters but also to show the full extent of a parent’s love. I highly recommend reading the entire series of Whickerton’s in love, as this book will have so much more meaning to it if you do.I read this book on Kindle Unlimited. All of these thoughts and opinions are my own.
The protagonists were likable, but the story was very slow paced. There were a few distracting typos. I did skim a lot of the book, due to drawn out plot.
