One of Us is Dead by Jeneva Rose was a wild ride.It was included in my Audible membership. It’s not my normal go-to genre, but I saw Elizabeth Evans was one of the narrators, and took the plunge. I’m glad I did, because it had me at the edge of my seat the whole time!Buckhead is a socialite city where no expense is spared. Cars, houses, salon bills, and face lifts. The women of Buckhead are used to this, but they’re about to pay a price no one expected. Death. But who will it be?Will it be Shannon, the former queen bee, now divorcee who can’t seem to get her life together?Or will it be Crystal, the newbie in town, drowning in the ire of Shannon, her new husband’s ex-wife?Or perhaps Olivia, the keen woman out to be the new queen of Buckhead, the one willing to do anything to get what she wants?Or maybe even Jenny, the owner of Glow Salan, where anyone who is anyone has a membership, where Jenny collects the secrets her clients can’t help but spill..?I really enjoyed this book! The narrators killed it, too. The only thing that drove me nuts was that you don’t find out who is killed, and who killed them, until the last chapter. It had its desired effect, though, because I kept listening until the end! This is not normally a genre I would pick up, so I’m really glad I gave this a chance!
:▪️ The Real Housewives ▪️ Mimosas & manicures ▪️Multiple POVs (5!)▪️ Alternating time lines ▪️ Lots of twists and turns▪️ Secrets galore :My review is based on listening to the audiobook, which I highly recommend!!! It is narrated by Andi Arndt, Hillary Huber, Elizabeth Evans, Brittany Pressley, and Cassandra Campbell, and they did such a good job. If you are going to listen to an audiobook, make sure you add this one to your list! I really liked this book with all of the drama and plot twists throughout. It is a very light suspenseful/thriller book, with a dramatic ending that had me thinking what?! However, I like to be really thrown for a loop, and I was able to guess some of the plot twists/secrets. I also thought listening to 5 POVs was going to be confusing, but it wasn’t! Thank you @netgalley and @blackstonepublishing for an audio ARC of this book!
OMG!!!I thought that the Perfect Marriage was good, and it was, but this book Jeneva Rose has out done herself. This is the story of 6 females that live in the town of Buckhead. Jenny owns Glow the local hair salon for the privileged women of the town, Keisha is an employee and friend of Jenny’s, Crystal is the newest wife to the town, Shannon the ex-wife of Shannon’s husband, Karen a realtor & mom and then there is Olivia. She is the self appointed leader of this group of women, and she is also the fakest person around. This story takes you through the ups, downs and take downs of these ladies and the husbands of the few that are married. A lot of the conversations and snarkyness take place at the salon. Which was funny to me because that is exactly what you do when you have a local salon that you and your friends all go to.I really enjoyed this book. Going into it you now that someone is going to die. But you don’t find out who until the end. I liked this book because unlike a lot of books along the same line, you have to read the book to find out who is dead. Even though from the beginning when Jenny is talking to the detective you know that something happened. I liked that I was able to get invested in the book and the ladies and their lives before I found out who it is that is dead. This is definitely a book that everyone should read and will enjoy. It has funny moments andsad moments. There are times when you will say ‘Oh no she didn’t’ and you when you will say ‘that B***ch’. But there is no point when you will put the book down and not look forward to getting back to the ladies of Buckhead.I have read all of Jeneva Rose’s books and I cannot wait to keep reading books by her. She is amazing!!
I read this book in about a 24 hour window of time. Incredibly well written and kept me on my toes of who was dead and what happened. Looking forward to reading more of Jeneva’s work!
Although I read this, I do plan on listening to it on audio! Jeneva Rose does not fail with her thrillers. Great character development, I liked/hated each of the characters as I think was intended. Despite trying to figure out the ending, I was only partially right. To be a fly on the wall in that salon though.. what a drama fest!
