Charlie Crawford’s ex-wife, Jill, is the target of her abusive husband’s cruel rage and would love to have Charlie back.Meanwhile, a very rich man is being held captive in his own home and unless he comes up with twenty million dollars quick, he’s a very rich very dead man.For fans of Elmore Leonard, Carl Hiaasen, John Sanford and Stuart Woods.”Turner’s Palm Beach is a blend of desperate criminals, social climbers, merciless billionaires, and surprising heroes.” – Publishers WeeklyOne advance reader said: “Piranha is my all-time favorite Tom Turner book and I loved them all!”
This doesn’t even read like a Tom Turner book. There are pages upon pages about a trip Charlie takes that details places, food, etc…absolute filler. There are 2 murders; one is somewhat solved (I guess). What a disappointment. I’ve read all of his other Charlie Crawford books but I think this will be my last.
Every one- and two-star review has been right on the money. I don’t understand the four- and five-star reviews at all. The story is a mess — a first murder that goes nowhere, a second that is resolved in the most unsatisfactory way, and a lengthy mid-story vacation trip that accomplishes nothing in terms of the narrative. And, believe it or not, I love the Charlie Crawford series.
Charlie and Off are great. I live this series. The story was good and keeps you interested. It was sad but the ending was Great.
Suspension of reality can only go so far. There is no way an ex husband would be allowed to be on an investigation of his exwife. Add on that the odometer in a Mercedes would be electronic and not readable without the car being on, plus the lack of an armed security system in New York, gave me too many hiccups to keep buying into the story.
This was very disappointing. I have read all of the previous books in this series and was looking forward to this one, but only made it 10 percent. The storyline wasn’t believable or really even possible. Won’t be reading the rest.
I’ve been a big fan of the Charlie Crawford series and eagerly await each new book release. But this one fell short. For the most part, we missed the clever investigation into the crimes and instead, there were entire chapters describing the sightseeing that Charlie and his girlfriend did.I hope the author gets back on track and gives us another good book in this series – it just read like his heart was not in this one at all.I’m going to be very generous and give this 3 stars just based on the author’s past work-if I were reading this book by itself, it would have been a one-star book.
