Trust me when I say that if you are a romance reader, you need to read this book. Anytime I read a book by Rebecca Yarros, I know that I’ll be getting an achingly beautiful love story. I always expect to feel every emotion and usually some heartache. Well this may be my favorite book by her so far, that’s how much I loved it.This book is a small town romance set in Legacy, Colorado. Years after a fire that forever changed the town, a group of residents try to rebuild the Legacy Hotshot crew. One of those firefighters is Knox. Harper and Knox have known each other since they were kids but since Harper’s brother is best friend’s with Knox, that makes her off-limits. So there were major forbidden romance vibes. The yearning for each other made me instantly fall for this couple.Harper and Knox fake a relationship to try to keep two young brothers together after the loss of their mom. The way they cared for those boys, ugh my heart just melted. They were selfless and committed to them. Liam was so protective over his baby brother James, it was adorable. The chemistry, the passion, the sexual tension…gah I just loved this couple together so much. This book was angsty but there were also lighthearted moments that made me smile. I did shed some tears, which I expected but still wasn’t ready for it.
This book was compelling from the start, Harper and Knox were excellent company and I finished the book in one day.
What doesn’t this book have? Insta-family, fake relationship, brother’s best friend, star-crossed/forbidden love, “loved each other forever” childhood crush, hot firefighter… and more I can’t tell you without spoiling something.Seriously, this book pulled every heartstring in my body. I smiled and I sobbed… basically I felt all of the feelings. Rebecca Yarros is a master wordsmith and delivers epic love stories every time.
Rebecca Yarros delivers again! This book was so good. I loved every minute of it. Definitely a must read.
I knew when I read the blurb that I would most likely be in tears at some point in the story. With young kids and their future at stake, there were bound to be some hard times. But I don’t think I fully anticipated how vested I would become in the immediate family that was formed from pure necessity. Knox and Harper had been in love with each other for years, she knowingly and Knox in denial. Their biggest obstacle through the years was Harper’s over protective brother, Ryker….or was it each other? Great story of loss and love and sacrifice…. And yes, I think you’ll need those tissues.
Reason to Believe is the first book in the Legacy series and it really started the series off with a bang! It was a beautiful heartbreaking story of grief, hope, new starts, and family. Legacy is a small town in Colorado where everyone knew each other and their sad past. A devasting fire had destroyed the town years ago and killed all but one man on the hotshot team. The town had slowly rebuilt over the years, but everyone had been affected by the death of the team. The team’s children and family members had moved away from Legacy but are now returning and are now trying to reform the Legacy Hotshot team and become certified before the next fire season.“She was mine in a way no one else was – to fluster, aggravate, protect, and even adore…but never to touch.”Bad boy Knox Daniels had fallen for Harper, his best friend’s younger sister when they were teenagers. Ryker, his best friend, saw his interest in Harper but made Knox promise to never go after her. As much as it hurt him, Knox kept that promise and stayed away from Harper for years. However, when Harper needs help with two orphaned siblings, Knox doesn’t hesitate to help even going as far as to marry her with the hope of keeping her.“Now you have been kissed…”“…Is it always like that?”“…Like what?”“… As necessary as air? Like you’ll die if you stop? Like the ache will burn you alive?”Harper Anders had loved Alex since they were kids but knew she didn’t have a chance since he only thought of her as his best friend’s little sister. She was desperate when a Legacy Widow died in an accident and left her two sons alone at Harper’s preschool. Harper couldn’t let the two boys be sent to another town and get separated so she said she would take them. Desperate to keep the boys and with nowhere to stay she asks Knox to use his house since he was not supposed to be back for another month. Only Knox returns home early and at the worst possible time. Harper and Knox would do anything needed to keep the boys together and safe. Will their marriage survive once things change?“Dad always said that you don’t marry the one you can live with, you marry the one you can’t live without.”I absolutely adored this book! This author is one of my favorites and this book did not disappoint. I loved watching Knox and Harper as their relationship changed. Knox spent years trying to keep his promise to Ryker, but he was miserable the entire time. The tension between the two was intense and seeing them finally get their chance together was wonderful. I loved this book and highly recommend it. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
