Sydney Whitmore, a forensic psychologist, moves to Shipwreck Island and renews her relationship with Ezra Reinhold, a reclusive billionaire who enjoys poking around in cold cases and has the means to hire the best people to find the answers no one else has been able to.In book 4 in the series, Syd has settled into her new home at the resort just in time for a good old fashion Thanksgiving but before she can leave the stress of her old life behind she must first complete one final interview relating to Conrad Baker, the serial killer whose actions sent her running to Shipwreck Island in the first place. The problem is that the interview turns into a bit of a disaster throwing the entire case built by the district attorney into doubt. Syd knows Baker is guilty in spite of the fact that the case against him seems to be crumbling so she decides to take a second look at her assumptions and ends up with a realization she never expected.
This story was very repetitive and the victim names that were repeated over and over became something to just skim through! I couldn’t wait to get it over with and thought about putting story away unfinished!
This was a pretty good read. Definitely interesting and full of surprises in outcomes. The characters are varied and the storyline strong.
This series builds the characters but provides separate mysteries in each book. I like how Kathy Daley’s various series are interrelated to introduce new characters who each expand into her own series. I enjoy her books and anxiously await each new episode.
Sydney is trying to figure out the truth in a serial murderer’s case. This wasn’t a story I could read before bed. Evil is still evil, fiction or not. Thankfully good things are happening around her, and that lightens the heaviness that is Syd’s. Interesting mystery and enjoyable family and friend relationships.
This series just keeps getting better and better. starts off strong and just keeps going. You can almost see yourself in some of the scenes.
These Kathi Daley series books are among my favorites. The characters are always believable and the plot is just suspenseful enough to keep my attention.
