Summary

It’s not the first time Edith’s husband, Joe, has lied to her.But it will be the last. When she finds photos of a mysterious woman on her husband’s phone, the heartbreaking implications are all too familiar, and Edith sets out to discover her identity. What starts as a desperate search for answers quickly becomes a terrifying spiral of obsession and subterfuge. With each new secret uncovered about her life, her marriage, and the man she loves, Edith is left with even more questions. What exactly is Joe hiding?Who is the woman in his photos?Refusing to accept Joe’s lies any longer, Edith soon finds herself living a double life, telling lies and keeping secrets of her own. When she uncovers a final piece of the puzzle, something darker and more gut-wrenching than even she could’ve anticipated, Edith is forced to make a choice about the future of her marriage. The truth always comes at a price.Sometimes, that price is your life.
When I need a quick, addictive, twisted read, Kiersten Modglin is my go-to author. I don’t know how she manages to do it. Her books are never disappointing! This cover is seductively elegant and I couldn’t pass it up. Her cover art is always incredible! This domestic thriller is filled with the secrets and twists that #kmod is so well-known for. Edith has had trouble trusting her husband since his infidelity. Joe promised it would never happen again, but she sees red flags everywhere. Is he up to his old tricks or is she being paranoid? This wasn’t as good as the author’s previous work, but it’s still an interesting audiobook. And the amusing conclusion was very pleasing. Three and a half stars!Thank you to the publisher for providing this audio-arc through NetGalley. This review is my honest opinion.
There were some suspenseful moments, but the author spent too much time writing about the main character’s vague angst. And, unfortunately, the ending was silly and implausible. I like this author, but not this book.
Definitely NOT jaw dropping, intense, thrilling or explosive as it was advertised It read like the soap opera my grandmother used to watch years ago I’ve read quite a few books by this author and have enjoyed a few Definitely not this one Don’t waste your money
I don’t want to give anything away, but I can say that this was a fast-paced domestic suspense that I kept eagerly coming back to. I found the characters believable and the situation all too familiar: a wife who is certain her husband is cheating, while he has a sensible explanation for just about everything. Is Edith crazy? She’s definitely lacking in common sense and needs a boost of self esteem. Has she let Joe’s previous transgression taint her view of him and his trustworthiness? Or is Joe really a perpetual cheater? Edith’s creative searches for the truth will likely destroy her marriage, whether Joe is lying or isn’t, and it’s a wild ride to find out who is really hiding what.Five stars because I found it so compelling and easy to read, but I get how some people might rate it lower because the gaslighting husband thriller is not original and has kind of been overdone in recent years.
I love all of her books!!! She never disappoints. Nightly recommend, I was hooked from page 1, read it in just 2 sittings 🙂
It’s one of those books that you never expected how it works end. Has some twist in story. Enjoyed it
