The Best Men By Lauren Blakely
Book/Novel Author: Lauren Blakely
Book/Novel Title: The Best Men
Bestselling authors Sarina Bowen and Lauren Blakely team up for the first time in an enemies-to-lovers, opposites-attract, irresistibly sexy standalone romance between the best man and the other best man!In my defense, I was left alone with a bottle of single-malt and a life-long penchant for protecting my baby sister. Still, that’s no excuse to send ten drunk-texts on why her hasty marriage would be a mistake. If only I had just texted my sister. But nope. I accidentally sent the message to her, her groom, and his super hot wingman.I also used the phrase “super hot wingman,” so I’d like to die now.Instead, I have to plan a wedding with the aforementioned hottie and share a too-small guesthouse in steamy Miami.Three days in the sun with the cocky, charming former athlete who likes to push my buttons? Fine, two can play at that let’s-infuriate-each-other game.Until Asher ups the stakes with one wildly sexy suggestion. A no-strings fling, then I go back to my single dad life in New York, and he returns to his star-studded one.Sign me up.But the more nights I spend with the other best man, the more I want days too, and that just can’t happen. Especially when I find out the real reason why…Contents Include: First times, a secret to-do list, champion-level flirting, fast cars, #eggplants, and two men who look good in formal wear.
I really enjoyed this. Mark and Asher are a great match and I loved the tension and steamy times. The only thing that annoyed me repeatedly were the stupid nicknames between Mark and his sister. Could have come up with something actually original.
I’m so happy this was my first read of 2022. As per usual with a Sarina Bowen or Lauren Blakely novel, I read this in one sitting way past my bedtime. These two authors have created such a fun and sexy story with wonderful characters. Mark might be one of the most serious 27 years olds I’ve ever come across. Married young (now divorced), adorable daughter, dry banking job (though he believes Math is hot), and he wears sensible polo shirts. Though underneath all that is one dirty mind. I loved the contrast of his stoic outside, and how he opens up with the right people. He does love to lose control in the right circumstances. Meanwhile, Asher has a more carefree personality, and his new favourite activity is getting under Mark’s skin. The opposite attitude of these two worked really great. Especially because it all came together in the bedroom. Helping Mark loosen up, while Asher slowly realizes he wants more. The Best Men was fun, hot, sweet and I just loved it. Such a feel-good story to start off 2022 with a bang. *I received a copy from the authors in exchange for an honest review
In a fairly off-the-wall plot that centers around one hedonistic former soccer star turned world class photographer and one semi-closeted, divorced-with-precocious-daughter uptight finance guy trying to help his sister organize her wedding, what stands out most is how these two enemies-at-first get to keep their wits–because they are for the most part witty when with each other. Photographer Asher St. James is best man to Mark Bank’s sister’s fiancee and Mark is best man to his sister, right? They have been dispatched from New York to Miami to put the finishing touches on an outsized wedding. Along the way they give us a tour of South Florida that serves as a premise for the jibber-jabbering that eventually helps them to get to bed with each other. After that it’s virtually non-stop sex and of course a HEA which you can believe if you wish but which is harmless overall.
This was so great; I just loved watching Mark and Asher fall in love. They were the perfect example of two people – very much opposites – that saw something in the other person and wanted to do everything they could to make it work. In particular I adored how much of a nerd Mark was…I mean, all the talk about spreadsheets was just so fun. And every moment when Asher would remove Mark’s glasses from him *swoon* Also, since Mark was a single dad I liked seeing his interactions with his daughter (little Rosie was too, too cute), as well as every moment Asher had with her. They had such a sweet connection. Ugh, I loved this book.
Loved banker Mark and Asher -hottest ex soccer player. Asher thinks that his best friends finance’ brother is Mr Uptight….Mr Polo shirt and stuffy. Mark thinks that Asher is a flirt but damn he is hot and when he drunk texts his sister to find he texted his sister, her finance’ and hottie Asher ..he is so embarrassed. What these two find is that yhey have an attraction and agree for a few day fling..until it isn’t enough.. Such a fun read!
This book I could not even get through! Would not recommend it . Stopped reading after 3 chapters . Don’t buy!
