My family keep telling me I’m safe. But why don’t I believe them?I stand at the very edge of the cliff face, looking at the roaring ocean below my feet. I’m in no danger, in fact my husband and his sister talk just feet away from me, watching my every move. They’re worried I’m losing my mind, and I sense their nerves as they watch me looking down on the jagged rocks below.Behind them sits our summer house. Apparently it’s my favourite place in the world, not that I can remember. Since the car accident, I’ve struggled to recall a lot of important things in my life, like giving birth to my daughter, Violet, just days after the crash. Or my supposedly perfect marriage…As I stare at the huge expanse of blue below, I have a flashback to the day of the crash—an argument, my husband’s face red with anger. Why is it so different to what everyone else is telling me about my life? Beads of sweat gather on my neck.If my memory is true, my life and my children’s lives are in danger. What really happened the day of the accident? And is there anyone I can trust? An absolutely gripping psychological thriller for fans of Gone Girl, The Wife Between Us and Mark Edwards’s Here to Stay. This book had me reeling! Non stop lies, deceit, dark secrets and incredible plots. Don’t even try to figure out what’s going to happen because when you think you know then bam it turns in another direction. This book was mind blowing. Take a bow Arianne Richmonde!!
This was a good book that left you guessing. It had plenty of twists. I definitely would recommend it.
The Breakdown was a little bit slow at first, I’d say 20% in, but then after that, it was absolute craziness. I enjoyed how the chapters alternated between different characters POVs. My mind was reeling trying to figure out what was happening between all of the characters. Every character was hiding a secret. I was even questioning my own sanity while reading the chapters from Celeste’s POV. I couldn’t decipher if she really had a traumatic head injury or if she was just faking it. I thought I had everything figured out, but I was totally wrong. This book contained some crazy secrets, a ridiculous amount of lies, and so much suspense! I loved it all! The ending was mind-blowing…I was beyond surprised! One of the best twisted books I’ve read by Arianne Richmonde. Can’t wait to read more from her!4.5 stars/5stars

The Breakdownby Arianne RichmondePub Date 11 Apr 2022 Bookouture General Fiction (Adult) | Mystery & ThrillersI am reviewing a copy of The Breakdown through Bookoture and Netgalley:One day her life was perfect, the next day I that perfect life was gone. She stood at the edge of the cliff face, looking at the roaring ocean below her feet. She feels no danger because her husband and his sister talk just feet away, watching her every move.Behind her husband and his sister sits the place they refer to as the Summer house. They say it’s her favorite place in the word, unfortunately she can’t remember. Since the car accident she’s struggled with her memory, even struggling to remember the birth of her daughter, Violet, just days after the crash, nor can she remember how perfect her marriage is? (Or is it?)As she stares at the huge expanse of blue before her, a flashback of the crash comes to her, a detail so small it might seem insignificant to some, but to her it’s everything. Why is the memory so different than what everyone is telling her? She can feel the beads of sweat forming on her neck, if this memory is true, her life as well as the lives of her children may be in danger. What really happened the day of the accident? Is there anyone left she can trust…This would be the perfect reads for fans of Gone Girl, The Wife Between Us and Here to Stay.I give The Breakdown five out of five stars!Happy Reading!
