#1 New York Times bestseller Kelley Armstrong returns to the captivating town of Rockton in The Deepest of Secrets, the next installment in one of the most imaginative crime series on shelves today.”This is a series that covers all the bases.” —St. Louis Post DispatchIt’s not always easy to live in the hidden town of Rockton, something Detective Casey Duncan knows firsthand. Overnight, no one is safe. It’s not a question of if your secret will come out—but when.Casey and her boyfriend, Sheriff Eric Dalton, need to find the culprit while protecting those who have been thrust into the spotlight. For a place built on privacy and new beginnings, Rockton isn’t handling these revelations very well. People are turning on one another, and when one of the loudest complainers turns up barely alive, it’s clear that their trickster is actually a murderer. The threat of exposure is reaching its breaking point, and no one knows what’s going to happen next.
Rockton is a small off the grid town in the wilds of the Yukon where all the residents have secrets. But when someone begins releasing those secrets, everyone is on edge and turning on each other. Buy as Casey and Sheriff Eric Dalton investigate, it soon becomes clear that someone is willing to kill as they find one of the loudest complainers very near death.I’ve really enjoyed this series and this book is no exception. Each book has been a compelling read with a sense of urgency. The series has definitely been building up to this book which is well-written with well-rounded characters, some of whom you’ll like and others you won’t. I love Casey and Eric as well as the characters they’re closest to, and Storm is awesome. I was drawn into this engaging story and kept hooked from beginning to end. The mystery will keep you on your toes and the suspense will have you on the edge of your seat. This book did seem as if was the last of the series, but I sincerely hope not because I am nowhere near ready to say goodbye. At least there is room for a spinoff series if Kelley Armstrong chooses to go that route. I highly recommend both book and series which is best read in order.
I hope that this isn’t the end of Casie, Eric, Will, Isabel and the rest. However, it’s a good conclusion to the series.
A secret town and all the residents having their own secrets as what brought them there are prime blackmail candidates. Secrets are getting revealed and who and why are the main focus of the first half of the book. The second half ties up the series, and what’s going to happen with the town and residents. At this point, Ms Armstrong has said the characters will continue in a new series, so I don’t have to miss the book friends I’ve enjoyed for many years.
I am impressed with the way this story ended. So often a book seems to just end with no resolution or understanding of what might happen next. That is not the case, all questions I had were answered. I hope the series continues into New Rockton.
