JEM has done it again!! This series is a must read if you love hot alphas and the strong women who love them. The dark underworld comes to life on these pages and Jodi just keeps pulling you in. Each book offers mystery, intrigue and twists and turns that you won’t see coming
This book kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. I’m so glad the Brit was brought into the story. I can’t wait for the resurrection. Malpas has a way of making these men with dark souls appear ruthless, yet, vulnerable and lovable. I fell in love with Beau and James. Through their pain and anger they found peace and love. I can’t wait to see the finale in the Resurrection.
Such a great read! Love this dark romance! Love all her books! Can’t wait to read the next book in this dark series!
I was totally sucked into this book from the very beginning. Just when you think that you have things figured out JEM flips the switch and makes you rethink everything you THOUGHT you knew! James and Beau are connected in more ways than one and of course I thought the worse of James but I should have known better. This story tore every emotion from my soul and I don’t regret one second of it!!!
Genre: Dark-ish Romance Book Length: Novel POV: First Person; Alternating Dual Setting: Miami Male M/C: James is definitely an enigma. He is seeking revenge on those responsible for destroying his family years ago and little is revealed about his life prior to meeting Beau. His age is unknown but my guess is late 20s or early 30s. He is British and has dark hair, blue eyes and a badly scarred/burned back. Female M/C: Beau is an ex-cop who recently lost her mother in a tragic way. She is 30 and has dark blonde hair, dark eyes and has a badly scarred arm. Spice Level: Medium Frequency of Spice: Medium Angst Level: Low Standalone or Series: Series Cliffhanger: Sort of, definitely an unfinished story. Epilogue: No Would I Recommend? Yes My Review: This is the second book in the Unlawful Men series. Although I enjoyed this book, I must admit I liked The Brit more. The story just moved a bit slow in the beginning and Beau was hard for me to connect to. I don’t usually enjoy female MCs when they are in law enforcement; they tend to be too abrasive and overly tough. Beau was frustrating to me as she constantly fought with James and didn’t listen to him, which put herself and everyone around her in jeopardy. I also wasn’t a fan of Beau’s uncles and her living with them seemed kind of juvenile and quite annoying. The redeeming part of this book was definitely James. He is deliciously unapologetic and dangerously sexy. I am looking forward to reading the third installment in this series and finding out how he and the Brit will end this war that is brewing.
Everything JEM writes is so entertaining! I’ve bought and read every book she has written since This Man was released and have never been disappointed. Congratulations Jodi, on another epic novel. Can’t wait to read the Resurrection.
