The Inn at Holiday Bay By Kathi Daley
Book/Novel Author: Kathi Daley
Book/Novel Title: The Inn at Holiday Bay
A heartwarming cozy mystery series about losing everything, taking a chance, and starting again. After suffering a personal tragedy Abby Sullivan buys a huge old seaside mansion she has never even seen, packs up her life in San Francisco, and moves to Holiday Bay Maine, where she is adopted, quite against her will, by a huge Maine Coon Cat named Rufus, a drifter with her own tragic past named Georgia, and a giant dog with an inferiority complex named Ramos. What Abby thought she needed was alone time to heal. What she ended up with was, an inn she never knew she wanted, a cat she couldn’t seem to convince to leave, and a new family she’d never be able to live without. In book 17 in the series, Abby joins Colt as he investigates the death of a local man who died after eating pudding dosed with poison during a community dinner. Was the man targeted or was the poison in the pudding a random act set into motion by a madman intent on murder?Meanwhile, Thanksgiving is only a few days away and several guests who’ve visited the inn in the past return to spend the holiday with Abby, Georgia, and the rest of the Inn at Holiday Bay family. In addition to the return cast, a couple is looking for their runaway granddaughter and another is trying to make the best of things after tragedy struck his family.
This book starts with a murder, so we have something a little different from some of the other cases. The same wonderful characters, with Abby and Colt working together to solve the mystery. And then the mystery takes a surprise turn. Another great adventure from Kathi Daley.
I have enjoyed this series but this book didn’t live up to the rest. There are too many characters to keep straight. I figured out the murderer fairly quickly. There was little depth to the story; it was too predictable. And it felt like a gooey Christmas TV movie.
Another great book in the Holiday Bay series. Each time I finish one of these books i want to pack my bags and visit the Inn.
This book continues a a good cozy series. There are nice descriptions of scenery. However, it is best to read this series in sequence because otherwise you will wonder who the characters are.
I read many of your books. I figured this out as soon as the explanation of the problem between Della and the asst. Mayor was told. Come on Kathi you can do better than this.
This a good series. I have enjoyed each adventure. I have read the first 17 books and liked each one. Looking fore to number 18.
