A missing husband. A gruesome discovery. DI Ruth Hunter and her partner, DS Nick Evans, must decide if a local man is the victim of a Liverpool gangland hit.Ruth and Nick are called to a gruesome discovery at the beautiful Lake Vyrnwy but have little to go on to identify the grisly remains. When a local man is reported missing, it seems that his links to a Merseyside gang might explain his disappearance. However, closer scrutiny seems to suggest that it might also be a domestic dispute that simply got out of hand. When the man is spotted at various locations, Ruth and Nick must discover if he is on the run and hiding, or if there is a darker manipulation that could explain the sightings. The Lake Vyrnwy Killings is the eleventh book in the DI Ruth Hunter Murder Case Snowdonia series. If you like chilling police procedurals, true-to-life characters, and psychological twists, then you’ll love Simon McCleave’s page-turning thrill ride.
A foot is found floating in Lake Vyrnwy. Ruth and her team try to identify the victim from a foot and a boot found later. But the tale is twisted. An angry wife, a brother who seems more than brotherly, a beligerent father who runs the nation’s largest pig farm. And the victim may well be the son of the Deputy Chief Constable of Wales. Bring in a nightclub owner who may have been in trouble with major drug pushers. Then add Ruth’s partner’s involvement with an investigation into a Vritish Lord, Amanda’s location of her daughter given up for adoption eighteen years ago, and Georgie’s flirtatious nature — which may get her into trouble. A thoroughly fascinating read cover to cover.
I’ve wasted hours of my life reading this series and it’s my fault for sure. But after reading ALL the books in the Hunter series, I am OFFICIALLY DONE! I care NOT what happens from here on out. Just wrap up the story already!
i always look foreward to a simon mccleave book. this has a good plot. i like the main character ruth hunter who is always interesting she has a good crew. cant go wrong with this one
A great murder mystery with twists and turns at every corner. Sarah is trying to get her life back but then something unexpected happens. The end is never really the end!
I really enjoy this series with all of the plot twists and deep character portrayals. The descriptions of Snowdonia make me want to visit there. I also like how the characters are seen with all of their flaws and making mistakes in their relationships.
Typos and false information: HMPO is HER majesty’s passport office not HIS. Lake Vyrnwy was created by the dam built in 1880 not 1950. Side story at the beginning about the girl’s grandparents was wrong and not relevant to the rest of the story.
