One moment I’m the forgotten daughter of one of the most wealthy families in the country, and the next I’m the blushing bride in an arranged marriage. My fate is sealed in my wedded union with a complete stranger. In public, Perry Constantine is the life of the party. Easygoing. Adored. In private, he’s brooding. Dark. Angry. But so am I. It’s a contest of wills to see who will break in the bedroom first, and while I try to remain strong, I find myself craving the very man I swore to hate.My husband.Welcome to the Midnight Dynasty… The warring Morelli and Constantine families have enough bad blood to fill an ocean, and their brand new stories will be told by your favorite dangerous romance authors.WARNING: This book is intended for readers eighteen years old and over. It contains material that some readers could find disturbing. Enter at your own risk…
Perry and Charlotte start off as nothing but pawns in a game that the family arrange. The physical attraction is off the charts from the beginning. Each one of them has a reason for wanting this arrangement but soon they form a bond and I can’t wait to see that bond grow in the next installment.
This book is my introduction into the warring world of the Morelli and Constantine families. I have to say that I’m glad I started with this book – almost everyone else in Perry’s and Charlotte’s families are horrible! – because Perry is the kindest character in his family so I’m all for his HEA. As for Charlotte, the yoyo-ing (We’ll get married. No, I don’t want to marry you. Yes, we can make it work.) really got annoying. There were a couple of surprises that kept the story interesting. The ending, though, was the best part! I’m so glad I’ve gotten my hands on the second book already!
“I could fall in love with this man. And that’s the last thing I should do.”Well, fans of the modern day arranged marriage trope, look no further. This was my first read by Monica Murphy but I’m a HUGE fan of the Midnight Dynasty world so I was here for all the things!Perry Constantine is the light-hearted Constantine brother and the people pleaser. So when his mother asks him to marry a total stranger, he complies.Meanwhile, Charlotte comes off as meek and quiet but her inner sassiness comes out during the story. The Reluctant Bride was the first part in Perry Constantine and Charlotte Lancaster’s story, and it focuses on the start of their arranged marriage which is basically controlled by the heads of the families involved. These two don’t know each other but they are forced into a relationship. But what happens when they start to get along and peel back each other’s layers? A very intense attraction that becomes more and more difficult not to act on. But the past and their families are on their way and everything is not as it seems. What will happen next for this couple and will they make it to the altar? The book ends in a massive cliffy when Charlotte’s past catches up with her but at such a pivotal part in the story that I was salivating for more.I loved getting to catch up with Tinsley from Lessons in Sin as she is still my fave Constantine.Recommend this one if you are a fan of:• Enemies to lovers• Arranged marriage trope• Family drama• Fake dating/relationship
I was eager reread this story by Monica Murphy since I love the Lancasters, add to that the infamous Constantine family and I’m sold! This story is about Charlotte Lancaster and Perry Constantine. Their arranged marriage was a total surprise for both of them and I’m intrigued with the real reason Winston Constantine agreed and pushed for it. It’s really a treat to see Winston and Tinsley again! I was hoping to get some Whit Lancaster too, but maybe in the next books?Anyways, the book is basically both MCs getting to know and measuring each other. What irritated me a bit was Charlotte’s constant mind changing. It even seemed like they were two different people within the same paragraph! She would say something, then in the next sentence go the opposite direction! It was confusing and gave me AND Perry whiplash. I was wondering if she was bipolar at some point. She did get better towards the end of this book and I truly hope she keeps it like that in the next books. Maybe she needs to grow up and the author is highlighting that? In either case, I wasn’t Charlotte’s biggest fan and hopefully this will change.Perry on the other hand, has shown maturity and growth. Love to see his protective side come out. I’m looking forward to seeing him as fierce as Winston and decimate anyone who crosses him. He is a Constantine after all.
Charlotte is a recluse in high society. Her father see her as an asset not a person. Perry is a rich wild child that his family wants to settle down. Their paths cross because they have been forced into an arrange marriage. What they didn’t realize where this arrangement would lead them. You can’t help but fall in love with these flawed characters. Perry surprises you with how he feels about Charlotte. I love this couple and can’t wait to see how the rest of their story unfolds.
Absolutely thrilled to read this book. This is an arranged marriage romance that did not disappoint. Once I started reading couldn’t put it down, I recommend reading it. Can’t wait for the following book.
