Vampire governor of New Jersey, Belladonna Barrone has just gotten an epic offer from an unexpected visitor, but it’s not something she’s ready to respond to without serious thought. Besides, she already has a lot on her plate. The recent death of a high-ranking vampire means she and her crew of staff and friends are headed off to the funeral in the middle of the country. But travel can be tricky when it comes to moving vampires. The solution? Rent some luxury motorcoaches and prepare for a road trip that will be unlike any other. For one thing, the trip includes a stop off to meet the parents of her daughter’s boyfriend. Something Donna isn’t particularly looking forward to. After all, they’re upstanding citizens and she’s, well, the soon-to-be former wife of a mobster currently awaiting trial. For another, the dark shadow of serious allegations hangs over Donna and her human assistant, Pierce. Allegations made by her arch nemesis, Governor Fitzhugh, that will require both Donna and Pierce to appear before the vampire council. She feels certain she’ll be able to deal with the outcome of her hearing, but Pierce is a different story. The vampire council isn’t known for their mercy with humans.Protecting Pierce weighs heavy on her. There has to be a way to persuade Fitzhugh to drop the charges, but at what cost? And can she trust his word? While pondering these questions, the funeral activities get underway, and Donna makes a strong new ally. Then events take an interesting turn and Donna is left with a brand-new issue to deal with. Should she bite the bullet and say yes to the epic deal she was offered before the trip? Even when she feels inadequate to handle what’s required of her?The only thing she knows for sure is enough is enough. For once and for all, the suck stops here.
I got the first book in this series and really enjoyed it, read books 2-4 over the weekend. The cliff hanger on this book is major! With that said I have loved these books and am okay with the cliff hanger.I am anxiously awaiting book 5.So if you enjoy a “clean” paranormal series grab book one and start, each book has a small (or large) cliff hanger in at the end but well worth the read
I loved the first couple of books, kept buying the books and was happy until this one.I really don’t care about reading about showers and bubble baths and cleaning up and washing dishes over and over again. Not really caring about the detailed description of the inside of an RV that much, which took up way more of the book than necessary. The treasure hunt just felt silly – to gain a monarchy through such means trivialized the responsibilities and stature of the queenship. The NY gov. is just getting less believable and more annoying with each progressive book. And the sudden cliffhanger truly “sucked”.Not sure if I will read the next book in the series.
Cliffhanging in a series is inexcusable if taken too far. If you are going to sentence a heroine to death, have the decency to continue to the denouement and let the next bit be about unravelling the treachery. Your ending made me lose interest altogether since it seems mostly about money making.
Donna is the best thing to happen to Vampires since blood banks. That cliff hammer ending though, that is exactly why I tend to binge read.LOL
This captured my attention and never let go, especially with that ending. Yes, please, keep this series going. So many new relegations, twists and turns.Exciting. Highly recommend this series and this book.So good.
This latest book has been even better than the previous ones ( and they were great) I hope the next ones gets here fast !
