I loathe Alastor Shaw. The city of San Francisco thinks we’re rival artists. In truth, we’re predators battling for hunting ground. We never chased the same prey. Until the night we both laid eyes on Mara Eldritch.Shaw wants to use her as a pawn in his twisted game.I’m fixated on her for a different reason…She makes me feel things I never thought I could feel. Want things I never wanted.Only she can make me lose control.I don’t know if I should protect her at all costs… or destroy her before she ruins me.Mara knows I’m no saint. But she has no idea she’s dancing with the devil…The Lark Notes:I have always been fascinated by true crime, as well as by villains and anti-heroes. A serial killer is, of course, the ultimate anti-hero — the baddest of the bad boys. Redeeming a character who starts so evil was a challenge that inspired me to entirely new heights and entirely new depths. Come on this darkly sensual and utterly brain-bending ride with me! — Sophie”There Are No Saints” is the first book in the Sinners Duet. Reader be warned: this book contains extremely dark themes that might be triggering to some. This is a steamy serial killer romance that will take you on a journey through the twisted mind of an artist on the brink of madness.Read more
HOLY HOTNESS! Y’all- Sophie Lark has knocked or out of the park with this one. She has dropped the mic and walked off the stage leaving everyone with their jaws open! Cole and Mara- who knew that I would fall in love with a serial killer and his artist? This book had all the check marks checked- spice, suspense, a strong female character and the ultimate bad boy! Y’all- I can not wait to see what happens in Book 2! Kudos to you Ms. Lark!
so so so good. chefs kiss. i couldn’t stop reading it. highly recommend. i can’t wait to read second book !!

There Are No Saints is the first in a new duet about struggling artist Mara and wildly successful artist ( and serial killer) Cole.Cole takes pride in being a refined man in art and in the art of killing but his rival, Shaw, is brash and showy.Cole is clear about his distain for Shaw’s gaudy killings. After Mara catches Shaw’s eye, he abducts and injures her to leave her in Cole’s path, hoping Cole will kill her and prove to be just as monstrous and impulsive as Shaw is. Cole decides to neither save nor kill her, leaving her for dead. But Mara is filled with grit and manages to escape and survive against all odds. After finding out she’s still alive, Cole decides to stalk her and bring her under his protection … for now.Mara and Cole were captivating characters. I loved Mara’s fiery attitude and sheer determination to live and thrive despite the curve balls that keep being tossed her way. And Cole … well he might be a killer, but he’s one I found myself rooting for anyway. He may act cold and emotionless but his interactions with Mara bring out a passion that burns bright in him.A perfect summary of their relationship is Cole’s observation that Mara feels things so intensely, it allows him to experience them too, through her. At first I thought Mara was crazy to want him, but that’s the beauty of their relationship. They work because they’re both crazy and crazy for each other; no one could complement Cole the way she does.I read a lot of dark romance but this was my first serial killer one and it knocked it out of the park! I can’t wait for the second book to see how things develop. While this is a duet, the ending here didn’t feel cliffhanger-y to me at all.
How do I put this into a coherent sentence without cuss words? This book, the writing, the story, the characters they were *chefs kiss* flawless. It has been a very long time since I’ve stayed up to read a book, I have to be up in the next 4ish hours and here I am completely obsessed with a serial killer and his protégé. This isn’t Dexter, y’all. And the fact that it ends on a damn cliffy has me chomping at the bits!Okay, so clearly I had words…
All I can say is I CANNOT WAIT for Dec 1st!!! I need to know how this will all unfold! Only 10 more days
