Before I was his little one, I was his ward…GraceThe fire stole everything from me.I was orphaned and homeless, my family’s estate locked in a trust I couldn’t touch until my birthday. I didn’t know what to expect when my father’s estranged step-brother, my new guardian, came to collect me.Handsome, patient, brooding. Aidan was the opposite of the rage-filled monster who’d raised me. But I soon learned that my guardian harbored sadistic whims of his own.I listened at doors and peered behind curtains. I saw things I shouldn’t have, things that made my pulse race and my heart beat faster.Things I desperately want him to do to me.AidanMy desires are unconventional.Grace is too pure, too innocent for the things I would do to her untouched body. Yet a twisted part of me longs to see how she’d look on her knees, bound in leather, her silken skin bearing my marks. I’ll permit her to serve me if she promises to play by my rules. If only I could stop myself from breaking them.As her guardian, I’m charged with keeping her safe, and I take that responsibility to heart. But the devastating secrets I carry refuse to remain in the dark. This love will burn us alive, but I’ll walk through fire before I let the flames touch my little one.Ward was originally published in the Killing Me Softly anthology. It is now available as a standalone novel with a new cover and a steamy bonus epilogue.Author’s Note: This title contains dark tropes and sensitive themes, including a highly taboo romance pairing, a 20+ year age gap, physical and domestic violence, suicide, and assault. This is NOT a safe romance, though it does end in a HEA. For a more complete list of potentially troubling themes, please read the extended Author’s Note within the sample pages, or visit Margot Scott’s website.
Personally, I stopped at the lead inviting men over to “share” Grace. Nothing wrong with sharing but it just rubs me the wrong way when both partners don’t agree with it. Feels a little too sprung on someone and all for his own interests. Lost all my respect for him. Couldn’t get through it.
The live that the plot had a secret that the dim was holding back. The scenes were hot and I like a good grovel.
Wow this book was phenomenal! All the best parts of a taboo romance with the sweetness between Aidan and Grace that just melts you!I am so thrilled that this book introduced me to Margot Scott I cannot wait to read her other works!!
This was definitely not as dark as the warning made it sound but then I’m used to reading pitch black books..Grace goes to live with Aidan, her father’s estranged stepbrother, when her parents die in a fire. She is 17 and he is 41 (I think).I liked how there wasn’t a lot of will they/won’t they. I also liked that the two main characters didn’t have a bunch of dumb misunderstandings. The conflict mostly came from outside the relationship.
So I did like the premise of the book, other than the under age thing. However, I really felt like this story was pushed to fast. There were some good parts, and I was hoping that the author would expand on those more, and build the characters more, make the characters pop, make me feel their emotions. I had a hard time with the chemistry between the characters. And although the author tried to add some guilt and other emotions in, they just didn’t feel real. I did like the ending scene. So was it worth reading, yeah. Will I read this author again, I am not sure.
It’s forbidden, but it’s not. No relation, just a large age gap and the fact Aiden is her guardian. I really enjoyed the book. It didn’t seem like they fought the “forbidden” attraction between them very hard.I’ll be reading more of this new to me author.Read through KU
